VS6 joins Steve Rotherham's Social and Solidarity Economy Panel

VS6 are delighted that Rachael Jones, Chief Executive Officer at One Knowsley, has joined Liverpool City Region’s new Social and Solidarity Economy Panel as a representative of the VCFSE sector.

Rachael will join a host of other leaders and experts from community and social trading organisations as part of an expert advisory panel aiming to maximise the contribution of the sector as part of the regions COVID-19 recovery planning. The panel is key to providing a vital voice for the VCFSE sector and advising Steve Rotheram and combined authority policymakers on how to support and develop the sector throughout the recovery period and beyond.

Celebrating the launch of the panel, Rachael said: “The establishment of the Social and Solidarity Economy Panel is testament to the ongoing commitment within the region to develop a whole economy that is fair and inclusive. We have a significant opportunity to build on and learn from the existing strengths and enterprise that the VCFSE sector harnesses. I am delighted to be invited to join the panel and look forward to contributing to the panel’s success”.

Ellen Loudon, Chair of VS6, welcomed the establishment of the panel and said: “The VCFSE sector have always been at the forefront of social enterprise initiatives and are excited to be a part of this visionary group. The development of a local sustainable social economy is vital to the way the City Region will develop fair economic structures and will strengthen our capacity to make real social and economic change. We look forward to playing our part in making that change happen”.

VS6 look forward to seeing the involvement of the VCFSE sector and progress made by the Social and Solidarity Economy Panel in the region and will support Rachael in her vital role as VCFSE representative.

VS6 works with over 8,600 VCFSE groups across the City Region, with over 24,000 full time employees working in the sector contributing £918m to the City Region economy. VS6 provide a voice and platform for the VCFSE sector to shape policy for the benefit of our communities.
