Tackling Housing and Homelessness: New VS6 Report Highlights Key Solutions
The VS6 Partnership has published a new report exploring the critical role of the voluntary, community, faith, and social enterprise (VCFSE) sector in tackling housing and homelessness across the Liverpool City Region.
This report follows an event in September 2024, held in collaboration with YMCA St Helens as part of the VS6 Beyond Innovation campaign, where VCFSE leaders, policymakers, and frontline service providers came together to discuss challenges, opportunities, and solutions for lasting change. Key findings highlight:
The increasing demand for housing support, driven by rising rents, the cost of living crisis, and a lack of affordable homes.
The vital role of the VCFSE sector in providing tailored, wraparound support to individuals facing housing insecurity.
The need for better investment in prevention and early intervention to reduce homelessness before it escalates into crisis.
Opportunities for cross-sector collaboration, policy changes, and innovative approaches to housing supply.
The report provides recommendations to strengthen the VCFSE sector’s impact, ensuring that every person in the region has access to safe and secure housing.
